Hispack 2027 accelerates its growth at a decisive moment for packaging

  • The 20th edition of the show already has 85% of its floor space booked and confirmed participation from the leading companies
  • The new Brand District and Tech & Trade District will bring together the fair’s activities, knowledge and networking

Hispack continues to move strongly toward its 20th edition. More than six months before it opens, the leading show for packaging, processing and logistics in Spain has already booked 85% of its planned exhibition space and has confirmed the presence of the main companies in the packaging industry. These indicators confirm the sector’s confidence and point to a growth edition. The organizers expect more than 900 exhibitors, 10% more than in 2024, and want to strengthen the international character of the event, as more than a quarter of the participating companies come from abroad.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona, Hispack will hold its twentieth edition from 4 to 7 May 2027 at the Gran Via venue, at a decisive moment for the transformation of the industry. The entry into force this past summer of the new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the push for the circular economy, the digitalization of processes and the growing demand for sustainable solutions are accelerating change across the entire packaging value chain.

The show’s commercial offering aims to respond to that transformation with leading companies in materials, packaging, industrial packaging, process machinery and packaging, labeling, bottling, logistics, robotics and automation. The sectors with the strongest representation so far include Packaging Machinery & Process and Brand Packaging, areas that are seeing high demand for exhibition space and that concentrate some of the industry’s main investments.

According to the chair of the Hispack organizing committee, Jordi Bernabeu, “the pace of bookings shows the strength of the industry and the confidence companies place in Hispack as a platform for business and knowledge. Everything points to the show once again bringing together the broadest and most representative commercial offering in the Iberian market, helping the sectors that use packaging solutions face with confidence the challenges that will shape the coming years.”

Two districts to drive business and knowledge

One of the main novelties of Hispack 2027 will be the redefinition of the two large spaces that will structure the fair’s program of activities and networking: Brand District and Tech & Trade District, aligned with the exhibition offering of halls 2 and 3 of the fairgrounds, respectively.

Brand District picks up from the former Unboxing space and will become the meeting point for companies and professionals interested in packaging as a tool for differentiation, consumer experience, sustainability and value creation. Its program will address branding, user experience, the circular economy, packaging performance and the application of artificial intelligence to the packaging life cycle. It will also host the presentation of the international Best-in-Class cases and several initiatives linked to the celebration of the show’s 20th edition.

Tech & Trade District, for its part, will broaden the focus of the former International Business Center to combine technical and commercial content. This space will bring together business meetings, international programs, thematic routes and activities designed to encourage contact between manufacturers and buyers from strategic markets. It will also concentrate the content related to machinery, processes, labeling, bottling, logistics, automation and robotics.

“The packaging industry is going through a profound transformation, and we want Hispack to be the place where the solutions, knowledge and professionals driving that change come together. The two activity districts will help us offer a more specialized, useful experience, connected to the market’s current challenges,” says Hispack director Xavier Pascual.

Automation, circularity and internationalization

Automation, robotics and intralogistics will continue to gain prominence at the next edition of Hispack. The growing need to improve operational efficiency, traceability and sustainability in supply chains is driving the adoption of new production and logistics technologies, making them one of the fastest-developing areas within the show.

In this context, Tech & Trade District will host a new edition of Engineers Day, an event aimed at professionals in engineering, operations, production and intralogistics that will bring the latest technological innovations closer to the main sectors that use packaging.

The international dimension will once again be one of Hispack’s strategic pillars. Currently, 27% of confirmed exhibiting companies are international and, in collaboration with amec, Hispack is preparing specific programs for priority markets, B2B meetings and actions aimed at foreign buyers. The organizers plan to directly invite 70 selected buyers from countries such as Mexico, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria, with real decision-making and investment capacity.

A historic edition

The commemoration of the twentieth edition will have a special place at Hispack 2027. Beyond an institutional celebration, the anniversary aims to highlight the shared journey among companies, associations, institutions and professionals who have contributed to the growth of the show and to the evolution of the Spanish packaging industry for more than four decades.

On the occasion of this anniversary, Hispack will roll out several initiatives to recognize the legacy of the fair and of the packaging community, to recover the voices and companies that have marked its history and to connect the evolution of the sector with the challenges of the future.

In addition, the coincidence with Graphispag will make it possible to strengthen synergies between packaging, printing, labeling, coding and graphic communication. Between the two events, more than a thousand exhibitors and around 37,000 professional visitors are expected.
