BOBST & PARTNERS Roadshow In Mexico Attracts A Large Number Of Owners And Decision Makers from The Packaging Industry

Focused on the latest innovations and trends in flexible packaging solutions, the BOBST & Partners roadshow held on in Mexico City on July 14, brought together over 100 high-level representatives of the Mexican flexible packaging industry which provides evidence for BOBST’s strong leadership position on the Mexican market for CI flexo, gravure, coating and laminating, vacuum metallizing, and extrusion coating equipment.

Speakers from BOBST and world-leading industry partners updated visitors on the latest developments in the areas of machinery, consumables, materials, and processes for packaging printing and converting.

The day started with the addresses by Ruben Araiza, director of the business hub of the embassy of Switzerland, and Mr Hiram Cruz, director of the Mexican AMEE (Asociación Mexicana del Envase y Embalaje), and Mr. Eric Pavone, BOBST Business Director, Business Unit Web-fed, who gave a brief overview of the wide range of capacities and equipment offered by BOBST.

The focus of day was on technologies addressing end-use market requirements and trends across the entire substrate production, printing, converting and finishing cycle. BOBST and partner companies of the industry Atlas Converting Equipment, Coim, Daetwyler Graphics, Daetwyler Swisstec, Graficas Villalba, Rossini and Schmid Rhyner tackled a wide variety of issues, analysing challenges and presenting solutions in their respective fields of expertise. Complementing the technical presentations, very valuable insights on their needs, trends, and challenges in the flexible sector of Mexico’s packaging industry were given by Mr Salvador Olvera, from Mars Mexico Pet Care.

«The Mexican population continues to grow at rates over 1% with the working-age population largely urbanized and leading busy lives. As a result, the demand for packaged and prepared foods is continuously growing and along with it the demand for high quality look and feel packaging as can only be provided by state-of-the-art printing and converting equipment. However, the demographic trend is not the only driver for the Mexican packaging industry. Another important driver is the geographical proximity to the U.S. which makes Mexico an attractive country for investment. Our offering of equipment, including flexo, gravure, coating and laminating, and vacuum metallizing is perfectly targeted to the demand for efficiency and quality of the Mexican market. With Mexico being a strong flexo printing market, this applies particularly to the F&K 20SIX flexo press which covers all needs of flexible packaging printing,» says Eric Pavone, Business Director of BOBST Business Unit Web-fed, emphasizing the company’s efforts to further strengthen its market position across all Central America by increasing capacities from sales to service.

For Humberto Sanchez, Head of Bobst Latinoamerica Norte, first-class service is one of the key factors of the company’s success in Mexico: «We have probably the strongest service team in the Mexican and Central American market capable of providing fastest support if necessary.»
