German company Schwartauer Werke has launched a brand new product, Schwartau Fruttissima, in a multi-layer container.
Fruttissima is a range of premium preserves containing 50% fruit, which are carefully filled cold aseptically to maintain a high-quality, natural taste and aroma. Available in four flavours – strawberry, raspberry, cherry and apricot – the range was launched onto the German market in July 2007, with further introductions planned in other countries supplied by Schwartauer Werke’s parent company, the Hero Group.
The 250g container is extrusion blow moulded in a multi-layer process for optimum protection from outside influences. The barrier layer keeps out excessive oxygen, whilst the PP layers protect against steam.
At the beginning of the development several manufacturing technologies provided by the RPC Group were taken into consideration, including thermoforming, injection moulding and injection stretch blow moulding, before RPC Kutenholz’s expertise in extrusion blow moulding of multi-layer PP was selected.
After filling, the container is sealed with a PP coated aluminium foil and closed with a metal cap. With this new concept, which is unique to the market, Schwartauer Werke has confirmed itself as a pioneer in customer friendly and safe packaging.
